Prepare for battle: Politico takes a look at the “media and political blitz” the White House is planning to launch once President Obama announces his nominee to replace the late Justice Antonin Scalia on the U.S. Supreme Court. The short list is reportedly down to two D.C. Circuit judges—Sri Srinivasan and Chief Judge Merrick Garland—and Ninth Circuit Judge Paul Watford.

Clemency: The Washington Post reports that President Obama is expected to grant clemency to more drug offenders, part of an ongoing push to provid relief to certain inmates. Obama has commuted the sentences of 184 inmates so far, and more than 9,000 petitions are pending.
