SAN FRANCISCO — Oracle Corp. and Google Inc. are set to begin trial Monday in a fiercely fought copyright dispute. The question is whether Google must pay Oracle for using basic elements of the Java computer programing language to build its Android operating system. Infringement is a given, and if Google’s fair-use defense falls flat with the jury, Oracle intends to ask for damages to the tune of $8.8 billion.
