Morrison & Foerster hit upon a trifecta of buzzy regulatory practices—environment, data security and driverless cars—in hiring U.S. Department of Transportation general counsel Kathryn “Katie” Thomson this week as a partner in Washington.
During her three-year tenure at the Transportation Department, Thomson worked on everything from autonomous-vehicle regulations to fuel emissions standards before stepping down earlier this year. She joined the department in early 2013 after serving as chief counsel to the Federal Aviation Administration. Thomson will now chair the transportation group at Morrison, the firm said in a statement Monday.
