Goldberg Segalla, a 240-lawyer U.S. firm that has made some high-profile lateral additions this year, announced Monday that it had terminated an insurance partner it hired three years ago to launch its London office after he was caught disparaging Liverpool soccer fans as “scouse scum.”
During an interview with a British online sports channel on Oct. 31 and subsequent exchanges on Twitter with fans of Liverpool F.C., Goldberg Segalla partner Clive O’Connell aired his frustrations with supporters of the storied Premier League franchise, whose controversial $480 million sale five years ago landed roles for a few high-powered global firms.
