Expanded provisions for national security review of real estate transactions involving foreign investors in the United States were among the biggest changes under draft regulations released by the U.S. Treasury Department last week.

The proposals for expanded review by the Committee on Foreign Investment in the U.S., the interagency panel at the Department of the Treasury, could catch some real estate investors and funds off-guard, international trade and national security lawyers said.
