Pandemic? What pandemic? COVID-19 has not slowed in-house moves. If anything, in-house counsel seem to be leveraging their skills in a tricky job market to land on their feet almost anywhere.

The trend to outside law firms, especially Big Law, continues unabated. As the Biden administration starts to hire, some in-housers have joined the government. Changing fields is becoming more common. A former lawyer for eBay Inc., Netflix Inc. and Lucasfilm Ltd, Thomas Jeon has moved to ethnic food grocer Weee. We are also seeing more startups, particularly high-tech companies like InCloudCounsel, hiring their first general counsel.
