Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz partner Sabastian Niles, known for defending companies against proxy fights, hostile takeovers and activist investors, will join Salesforce as its chief legal officer, the business software giant confirmed Monday.

“I’m thrilled to welcome Sabastian to Salesforce as part of our world-class management team,” chairman and CEO Marc Benioff said in a statement posted to Salesforce’s website. “He’s a phenomenal executive and individual, and brings a wealth of knowledge, leadership and expertise to our company.”
