Valorem Law Group, which touts itself as a new model litigation firm comprised of “big law refugees” and boasting alternative fee arrangements, has poached former general counsel of Fortune 500 company FMC Technologies Inc. Jeffrey Carr.

“This is a huge opportunity for Valorem,” said Patrick Lamb, a firm founder, in prepared remarks. “Jeff was a great client. He taught us that in-house counsel are most effective when they prevent fires rather than when they are trying to put them out.” At Valorem, Carr will be leading a platform designed to diminish the need for legal services by preventing problems before they occur.
