Adam Gomolin is one of the three co-founders of Inkshares Inc., the Oakland, California-based publishing platform that mixes crowdfunding with self-publishing. Once a book project reaches enough online preorders from crowdfunders, Inkshares steps in to cement publishing and audiobook contracts, and in some cases, TV and movie deals. But Gomolin is not only an entrepreneur; he’s also a lawyer. His background was in private practice and he’d clerked for the Federal Trade Commission and the Securities and Exchange Commission. His move to Inkshares was his first in-house role. When the company was founded in 2013, he was general counsel and the VP of business development. In July he added the role of CEO to his title. He spoke with reporter Stephanie Forshee.

Corporate Counsel: After having the idea of Inkshares, how did you become the choice for the company’s general counsel?
