The Greenwich Police Department was accused of protecting boys at a private school from allegations of sexual assault. Four years later, after 427 docket entries, 36 depositions and thousands of pages of materials, the judge awarded the defendants nearly $250,000 in attorney fees and costs.

In 2016, the plaintiff, a high school student at Greenwich Academy, an all-girl preparatory school, reported that she was sexually assaulted during a pool party at her house, the complaint said. The plaintiff alleged a student at Brunswick School, an all-boy preparatory school, was the assailant, the complaint said.
