Former Connecticut U.S. Attorney Kevin O’Connor has accepted a new position for a multibillion-dollar, Stamford-based investment firm that has previously been sanctioned by the federal government.

O’Connor will become the general counsel at Point72, which was formerly known as SAC Capital Advisors LP. In 2013, SAC agreed to plead guilty to insider-trading charges and pay $1.8 billion in fines. The new firm, like SAC Capital, is run by Steven Cohen, who still faces a civil lawsuit by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, which alleges that Cohen failed to supervise the employees who were later found guilty of insider trading. He has denied the accusations.
