The Florida Supreme Court disciplined seven South Florida attorneys among 15 from across the Sunshine State.

The high court suspended Miami attorney Juan Carlos Mercado Jr. for six months for engaging in sexual relations with a defendant who was pending prosecution by his office. As an assistant state attorney, Mercado assisted the woman by giving her advice, and providing confidential information to her regarding the case, according to information The Florida Bar released Friday.
