Morrison & Foerster’s three-year old Miami outpost has lost one of its original partners, with Alexandra Aguirre departing last month to join Holland & Knight’s corporate, M&A and securities and Latin America practices.

Aguirre’s move back to a full-service firm comes as changing dynamics in Latin America have had mixed effects on Miami law firms. Sluggish economic growth and growing leftism in the region has meant that wealthy people and entrepreneurs need advice on moving their money north, according to practice leaders. But with the U.S. economy sliding toward recession and Colombia narrowly electing its first leftist president earlier this week, the outlook isn’t as rosy for lawyers who work on deals within Latin America.
