A Palm Beach County law firm won a little and lost a little in an appeals court ruling Wednesday. And a litigator said the decision could mean changes to a common arrangement in the legal community, especially for foreclosure defense fee contracts.

The appellants, C. Giovanni Muentes and Michele Ruiz, challenged a decision by Palm Beach Circuit Judge Sarah Shullman, who agreed with their lawyers in a fee dispute.
