Many of you measure your workday in six-minute increments. Even if you don’t, every moment you’re distracted is one more that your client or the public has to wait to resolve their legal problems. So as I end 26 years reporting and editing news stories about the practice of law, I want to thank you for sharing your time with me.

Through you, I learned the law and established my stock answer to skeptics who asked how I could write intelligently about the legal profession without going to law school: “There is always a lawyer on one side of the case who is eager to explain why the lawyer on the other side is wrong.”
