The emerging cannabusiness industry has ignited western parts of the nation, but simmered in the South. Albeit incremental, Georgia has progressed to allow the licensing of industrial hemp since 2019, but lawyers remain barred from directly advising on business opportunities involving it within the state.

Looking ahead to 2022, attorney Brent Walker of the Walker Firm in Atlanta predicted budding opportunities for advising related industrial suppliers, as well as an increase in investor and retail clients seeking representation, and potential for litigation surrounding additional legislative restrictions.
