Chief Judge Timothy Hamil was reelected to the Gwinnett County Superior Court in November 2022. Hamil got his start as a small-town, general-practice lawyer in 1985, litigating civil, corporate and domestic law throughout North Georgia. He first became a Gwinnett State Court Judge in 1999 and was later promoted to a Gwinnett County Superior Court judge by former Gov. Roy Barnes.

Since then, Hamil has been elected to five four-year terms to the Superior Court of Gwinnett County. In light of his most recent reelection, Hamil sat down with the Daily Report to give lawyers a rundown on what they should know when coming to his court, the Gwinnett County Judicial System’s pandemic recovery process and how his long career in the legal system has changed his outlook as a judge.
