A federal jury in Delaware has slapped Ardagh Glass Inc. with a $50.3 million verdict for infringing a patent held by a small Pennsylvania-based glass company.

The panel returned its verdict late April 21, finding after a five-day trial that an American subsidiary of the European glass manufacturer had willfully infringed on the patent, which covers technology that allows glass manufacturers to use recycled glass in manufacturing. Based on the jury’s finding, Green Mountain Glass Inc., headquartered in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania, will be able to pursue up to $150.9 million in enhanced damages.
