On Nov. 22, 1993, a handful of women in arbitration gathered for dinner in Paris to discuss how to increase their numbers and profile in a practice area that was predominantly male.

Thirty years later, ArbitralWomen has grown to almost 1,000 members from over 40 countries. In addition to networking and social activities, the group has taken on maintaining a directory of female arbitrators, sponsoring women law students in moot court competitions, and working with nonprofits to identify promising female students for scholarships and law clerkships.
