Eversheds Sutherland has advised four food and agriculture giants on a joint venture which the firm says set a legal precedent.

The four global food and agriculture companies—Archer Daniels Midland Company (ADM), Cargill, Louis Dreyfus Company and Olam—turned to Eversheds Sutherland to advise them on the set-up of a digital platform to track and standardize sustainability metrics. TRACT, as the platform is called, will, for instance, be able to show energy consumption, water use and carbon emissions throughout a company’s global coffee supply chain.
