Prop 64 Took Plaintiff Bar by Surprise

Fueled by a barrage of anti-lawyer TV ads, Prop 64 sailed to a surprisingly easy victory Tuesday, ushering in tight restrictions on the use of the state's unfair competition law. Polling released just before Election Day showed the measure lagging, though many voters were still undecided. On Tuesday, it passed by a 58.9 to 41.1 percent margin.
