SAN FRANCISCO — Nell Newton, dean of Hastings College of the Law, is leaving to assume the dean’s chair at Notre Dame Law School in Indiana this summer.
Both schools made the news official Tuesday morning, just four days after Newton had called a closed emergency meeting with Hastings’ board. She revealed that she’d notified the board she’d been offered the Notre Dame position at the Friday meeting but didn’t accept the job until Sunday.
