SAN FRANCISCO — Former Sen. Charles “Chuck” Poochigian was confirmed to the appellate court Thursday, but not before Chief Justice Ronald George ripped into the commission that rated him “not qualified” for the post.

George said there was “a real problem in the process” used by the Commission on Judicial Nominees Evaluation to rate candidates for the bench and “strongly urge[d]” that there be “ some revisions in the procedure.”
