A California appeal court backed a woman fighting her former law firm over unpaid fees on Tuesday, ruling that the lawyer who acted as chief arbitrator should have disclosed that he regularly represents law firms in fee disputes.
The 1st District noted that the chief arbitrator, Howard Rice Nemerovski Canady Falk & Rabkin partner Sean SeLegue, “is a distinguished lawyer in a highly regarded firm,” and emphasized that they weren’t suggesting he harbors bias against parties in fee disputes.
