SAN FRANCISCO — The Silicon Valley bar could see one of its own elevated to a district judgeship.

U.S. Magistrate Judge Paul Grewal, a former IP litigator and clerk to the Federal Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals, is being vetted by the White House for an Article III elevation, lawyers familiar with the situation said Wednesday. Sen. Dianne Feinstein, whose judicial vetting committee was tasked with recommending someone to fill a San Jose opening, advanced Grewal’s name this month.
