Allergan, Inc., insists that it isn’t asking for much in the suit it recently filed against the government—just the right to talk about unapproved uses of its medications.
The Food and Drug Administration already allows Allergan to recommend its antispasm treatment, Botox, for crossed eyes, eyelid spasms, and involuntary contractions of the neck muscles. But the California-based company wants to tell doctors about other “off-label” uses of Botox that haven’t been cleared by the FDA yet. (Allergan also makes the antiwrinkling treatment Botox Cosmetic.)
