The June 2011 issue of Corporate Counsel featured a cover story on Google, which was named Best Legal Department 2011. Now it appears that the web-search giant may get a very public opportunity to live up to the magazine’s kudos.

On June 23, the FTC announced plans to launch a formal investigation into Google on antitrust grounds. Through the probe, the commission hopes to uncover more information related to possible anticompetitive practices. Google has been under investigation by the European Union’s European Commission on similar grounds since November 2010.
