Of the bumper crop of recalls announced by Toyota Motor Corp. during the past year, those associated with reports of sudden uncontrolled acceleration have fueled the most lawsuits.

Meanwhile, more than a dozen consumer actions over Toyota’s hybrid cars have been humming along, separate from the multidistrict litigation (MDL) pending against Toyota over sudden acceleration. These cases could be consolidated before a single judge in the coming weeks.
