The U.S. Department of Justice will be fighting on multiple fronts at the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit this fall, attempting to overcome a series of losses in cases involving Guantánamo Bay detainees, tax policy and stem-cell research.
The appeals court’s fall argument session begins on Sept. 13, and DOJ lawyers want the D.C. Circuit to overturn an April ruling that freed a Guantánamo detainee who alleged that he was tortured.
