Nashville’s law firms are capitalizing on its status as the "It" city of the moment. That, at least, is what Tennessee’s capital was christened by The New York Times in January in an article comparing the Music City’s moment with the buzz that in the not so distant past surrounded thriving and artsy cities like Austin, Texas; Portland, Ore.; and Seattle.

"Now is Nashville’s time," said Scott Carey, managing partner of Baker, Donelson, Bearman, Caldwell & Berkowitz’s Nashville office. "We’re getting a lot of people sending their resumes in from D.C. or New York or Chicago who may have some tie to the South and see what a great quality of life it is."
