A fire has forced the closing of the Criminal Court building at 100 Centre Street for the remainder of the day, David Bookstaver, the court system’s spokesman announced shortly after noon.
One person, whose identity could not be confirmed, was taken to Bellevue Hospital for the treatment of smoke inhalation, according to a Fire Department spokesman. Seven others were treated on the scene for minor injuries. In all, five firefighters, two court employees and one prisoner were treated at the scene for minor injuries.
