Attorney Brien Santerlas insisted under hostile questioning yesterday that he was telling the truth when he testified for the government that he and fellow Ropes & Gray associate Arthur Cutillo accepted cash from accused inside trader Zvi Goffer for information about firm clients.
Attacked by Goffer attorney William R. Barzee as a self-serving witness who could not be trusted to tell the jury the truth, Mr. Santerlas kept his cool as he testified how he and Mr. Cutillo fed intelligence on pending corporate deals to a third lawyer, Jason Goldfarb, in return for cash that prosecutors say came from Mr. Goffer.
