The Defender Association of Philadelphia was slated to withdraw from multiple Municipal Court courtrooms starting today because the association says it has not received enough funding from the city of Philadelphia for the fiscal year starting this week.
Criminal justice leaders said private attorneys would represent indigent defendants in those courtrooms instead, but the scheduling conflicts private attorneys have will lead to more cases being rescheduled and more delays in cases.
