An $18 million verdict has been awarded by a Philadelphia jury to a man who became an incomplete paraplegic after he lost control of his car, striking a stone wall and a telephone pole.

After an eight-day trial in Horrell v. James D. Morrissey Inc., the jury returned an $18.3 million verdict in favor of 23-year-old plaintiff Timothy J. Horrell Jr. on Thursday in the Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas.
