Law firms have come under increasing pressure from clients to curb costs, or at least make them more predictable. Legal outsourcing companies, meanwhile, are in need of alternate sources of revenue as a result of the international market drying up. Am Law 200 firm LeClairRyan and legal outsourcing and technology consultants UnitedLex Corp. think that they have found the answer to their problems.
LeClairRyan and UnitedLex announced Wednesday that they were creating a joint partnership, which will be known as the LeClairRyan Legal Solutions Center. The center, which will officially open on Nov. 1, aims to integrate UnitedLex’s technological capabilities into LeClairRyan’s litigation and transactional practices, giving the firm the ability to keep all of its litigation support functions in-house. As part of the alliance, UnitedLex will take over and operate LeClairRyan’s Discovery Solutions Practice office in Richmond, Va., while 400 document review and e-discovery attorneys and support staff from the law firm will join UnitedLex as employees.
