Tell us about your top U.S. Supreme Court or federal appeals court victory over the past year and how you and your team achieved the win.

Becket’s top U.S. Supreme Court victory was in Our Lady of Guadalupe School v. Morrissey-Berru. By a 7-2 majority, the court reversed two Ninth Circuit rulings and protected religious schools’ freedom to decide who teaches the faith to the next generation. The justices recognized that religious autonomy in education is crucial to faith groups of all kinds (specifically mentioning Muslims, Jews, Catholics and Protestants, among others), and also promotes a healthy separation of church and state.
