OpenSky Industries LLC was not trying to maintain the integrity of the patent system when it inserted itself into a $2.175 billion verdict against Intel Corp. Far from it.

So ruled PTO Director Kathi Vidal on Tuesday as she brought down the hammer on the shadowy LLC, finding that it abused the America Invents Act and engaged in “double-dealing” in an effort “to extort money, from any party willing to pay.”
