Climate change litigation in Europe, which kept the courts hopping in 2022, shows no signs of slowing down in 2023 and could, in fact, get even more active.

The first corporate case of the year, filed Jan. 9 in France, pits Danone, the global food and bottled water giant, against three environmental groups. The plaintiffs claim the company is not doing enough to reduce its plastic footprint, and they want a court to order Danone to make a better plan or pay a heavy fine.
