With a company full of free-thinking millennials, Activision Blizzard Inc.’s legal team uses a light touch to convey the serious business of employment law compliance.
“We’re a company of creative entrepreneurial people. That sometimes can feel different from a compliance perspective. We want to make sure we’re meeting employees where they are,” said Chris Walther, chief legal officer of the interactive video game company, whose products include Guitar Hero, Call of Duty and World of Warcraft.That means keeping in mind employees’ work styles and demographic factors, such as age. On a practical level, it means spreading the word about various laws to employees in 64 locations, including development studios of different sizes, Walther said.
