In the early weeks of David Lat’s recovery from a life-threatening battle with COVID-19, the hours and days were difficult.

As his first week after being discharged April 1 from a 17-day hospital stay drew to an end, the marathon runner and legal recruiter found himself laboring still. Every day, he was coughing and getting “winded from minor things like walking across a room or up a flight of stairs,” he wrote on April 8 in a Twitter post on his feed, where he began to chronicle his coronavirus recovery on a weekly basis.
