Global disruptor COVID-19 appears to have had little effect on the big pay for top legal chiefs in New York. They continued to outearn general counsels in other parts of the country while the pandemic raged and companies enacted austerity measures. 

Once again, half of the top 10 highest paid in-house leaders in the country are based in New York, which also had 16 in-house leaders in the top 50 of ALM’s 2021 General Counsel Compensation Survey.
