Any charges brought against former President Donald Trump will come because the rule of law requires it, the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office wrote in a Thursday letter to House Republicans.

The letter is a response to demands made by House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan, R-Ohio; House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer, R-Ky.; and House Administration Committee Chairman Bryan Steil, R-Wis. The Republican politicians on Monday demanded that DA Alvin Bragg appear to testify before Congress and turn over nonpublic documents regarding the ongoing investigation into Trump.
