Riding a wave of ownership disclosure momentum begun with passage of the federal Corporate Transparency Act (CTA), New York’s Legislature recently passed the state’s own “LLC Transparency Act” (NY-LLCTA), currently awaiting Governor Kathy Hochul’s approval.

This Act requires disclosure of beneficial owners of both New York domestic limited liability companies (LLCs) and LLCs formed in other jurisdictions and operated or qualified to do business in New York.
