Defense counsel for Donald Trump on Friday urged the judge overseeing the Manhattan criminal case against their client to bar prosecutors from introducing any Sandoval evidence should their client take the stand in his own defense.

Prosecutors with the Manhattan District Attorney’s office are seeking to include evidence of multiple court cases they say illustrate the defendant’s prior vicious conduct or bad acts. Sandoval hearings, from People v. Sandoval, determine the scope of questions prosecutors can ask defendants if they testify.
