Venable yesterday added two technology and outsourcing partners in New York from DLA Piper. James Nelson and William Russell were the co-heads of DLA’s technology and sourcing practice. Their clientele include companies that develop and commercialize intellectual property assets. Venable said they often counsel clients on business process and IT outsourcing transactions.

Edmund O’Toole, partner-in-charge of Venable’s New York office, in a statement called the hiring a “watershed moment in the continued expansion” of the firm in New York. Venable has 600 lawyers, 39 in New York, according to its Web site. The new hires represent “the firm’s ideal for growing our transactional practice in such important national and international markets,” Mr. O’Toole said.
