After prosecutors in California said a third party might be able to unlock an Apple smartphone, the company has asked a Brooklyn federal judge to push back briefings in a similar case.
Central District of California prosecutors told Magistrate Judge Sheri Pym on March 21 that an unidentified “outside party” had demonstrated a possible way to unlock the phone of the man who carried out the San Bernardino terror attacks. Prosecutors said if the alternate approach is successful, it should eliminate the need for Apple’s assistance.
