Big Law's move to $180,000 starting salaries in 2016 doesn't seem to have a major impact on the larger associate pay landscape.

The median salary earned by first-year law firm associates nationwide this year was $135,000—the same number as 2015, according to new data from the National Association for Law Placement (NALP) Inc.

That stagnating figure indicates that the much-ballyhooed $180,000 starting salaries are not yet the norm, and are offered only at certain firms within certain markets.
