The Austin American-Statesman is entitled to attorney fees in a suit where the trial court ruled that the newspaper prevailed on its open-records dispute with the University of Texas-Austin, an appeals court ruled.

The Travis County 353rd District Court, in a 2020 final judgment, granted the newspaper’s motion, but denied the plaintiff’s motion to award legal costs. This was an error, the El Paso Court of Appeals said in a recent opinion.
