Long Island-based defense firm Milber Makris Plousadis & Seiden is the latest to set up shop in Pennsylvania, and the latest landing place for lawyers of the now-shuttered Powell Trachtman firm. A group of six lawyers from Powell Trachtman, led by partners Richard Davies and Neil Clain, have made the move to Milber Makris, a firm of about 100 lawyers based in Woodbury, New York. Also joining them are partner Kevin Dmochowsky and associates Jennifer Haeberle, Cory Taylor and Vittoria Greene. The group brings a commercial litigation, professional liability defense and construction litigation practice to Milber Makris, which signed a lease Monday to open its first Pennsylvania office in Berwyn. Managing partner Harry Makris said that location would let the firm serve clients in Philadelphia and along the Main Line, as well as in Harrisburg. The office allows room for growth, he said. more construction in May pursued litigation against the firm Davies has a long familiarity with his new firm, having worked with Milber Makris name partner Mark Seiden over a decade ago on a case involving Philadelphia's Kimmel Center and an architectural firm. “We know that MMP&S is a nationally-recognized leader in commercial, professional and general liability litigation, including the defense of architects, engineers and other design professionals, and we are excited to build on and expand MMP&S's strong foundation in those practice areas,” Davies said in a statement. Milber Makris was established in 1998 in Woodbury, New York, on Long Island, and has also offices in White Plains, New York; Hackensack, New Jersey; Newtown, Connecticut; and Miami and Boca Raton, Florida. In addition to construction industry professionals, the firm has represented attorneys, accountants, agents and brokers, design professionals, directors and officers, and affiliated health care professionals such as chiropractors and nurse practitioners.
