Stephen Lewis is stepping down as chair of Troutman Pepper Hamilton & Sanders effective at the start of 2024, following the election of managing partner Thomas Cole Jr. to the position. Washington, D.C., partner Amie Colby, meanwhile, will succeed Cole in the managing partner role.

Lewis served as legacy firm Troutman Sanders’ managing partner until the 2020 merger with Pepper Hamilton and as the first chair and CEO of the merged firm. Cole, the incoming chair, served as managing partner at Pepper Hamilton before the merger and continued in that role at the combined firm.
